Ghostwire: Tokyo takes place in a Tokyo suddenly emptied of its people, its streets now haunted by yokai and spirits after a supernatural event. Young Akito survives by becoming host to KK, a spirit detective who grants him occult powers.

Players use elemental hand-weaving abilities in place of firearms to battle spectral enemies, free trapped souls, and investigate the vanishing across a strikingly reimagined, neon-lit rendition of the city.
