13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a narrative-heavy adventure from Vanillaware that weaves together the stories of thirteen high school students who pilot giant mechs called Sentinels to defend their city from monstrous kaiju, told through a nonlinear, puzzle-like structure.

Story segments alternate with tactical real-time battles against waves of kaiju, and piecing together how each character's timeline connects becomes as compelling as the combat itself. Its hand-painted art and layered mystery have made it a standout in the genre.
