Earth Defense Force 5 continues the series' campy giant-monster shooting action, sending squads of soldiers against enormous insect and alien invaders across destructible cities. Cooperative play remains central to tackling its chaotic battles.

The series' trademark scale and B-movie tone carry through, with massive enemy swarms and collapsing environments creating relentless, over-the-top firefights that favor spectacle and teamwork over tactical subtlety.
