Pokemon Shield is a mainline Pokemon RPG set in the Galar region, where players journey through gyms styled after a stadium sports league while catching and training creatures. A dynamic Wild Area lets players roam and encounter Pokemon more freely than in earlier games.

Version-exclusive Pokemon and story details set it apart from its counterpart release, while the core loop of battling, catching, and building a team of six carries the series' long-running formula forward.
