Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is a story-driven role-playing game set in Ombre, a Venetian-inspired city where enchanted masks called Mascherines grant their wearers elemental magic. Players follow Cicero Gavar, an exiled investigator summoned back to the city to look into a disappearance as civil unrest boils over.

Real-time combat with a tactical pause lets players direct a small party of mask-wielding fighters, each tied to a different element. Its focus on political drama, voiced characters, and a richly detailed setting sets it apart from more combat-heavy RPGs.
