Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble continues the series' tilt-based platforming, sending a ball-encased monkey through elevated obstacle courses where careful momentum control is the main challenge. New stages and modes build on the established formula of steering around hazards to reach each goal.

Alongside the core course-clearing gameplay, it includes party-style minigames suited to multiplayer sessions. It keeps the series' emphasis on precise, physics-driven rolling over combat or combat-adjacent mechanics.
