Vampire The Masquerade Shadows of New York is a narrative adventure set in the World of Darkness, following Julia, a Lasombra vampire drawn into a murder mystery within the city's hidden supernatural society. Players make dialogue choices that shape relationships and the direction of the investigation.

The game favors atmosphere and storytelling over combat, focusing on uncovering secrets while balancing the demands of vampire politics and the need to stay hidden from humans.
